University fees have risen faster than wages in most countries over the past two decades, and many families now treat a degree as a debt rather than a chance9 . In my view, funding tuition from taxation is the better option1 , because the price of a degree decides who studies long before ability does.
Firstly, tuition fees discourages 11 students from poorer households, even when they are qualified. A lot of 7 research from the United Kingdom shows that applications from the lowest income group fall whenever fees rise, and those students carry the largest debts afterwards. In practice, the students who need a degree most are the ones asked to gamble on it.

That last row is deliberate. A tool that rewrites your essay produces a better essay and a worse writer. You have to be able to do this alone, in the exam, on a question you've never seen.
What a band estimate is, and what it isn't
Band scores here are estimates, shown as ranges, based on the public IELTS band descriptors and calibrated against examiner-scored essays. They are a study tool, not a prediction of your official result — real exam scores vary between examiners too.
What this is genuinely good at is showing you where the marks are going and what to change. That's the part no score report gives you.
